Midnight Song for China Tour 2016/2017
China Tour (27.12.16 - 8.1.17)
Maestro Vojtěch Spurný
Pero Šiša has been commissioned to compose a new piece specially for China National New Year Tour. His latest work called Midnight Song is scored for symphony orchestra and will be performed by respected South Czech Philharmonic Orchestra (Jihočeská filharmonie), the only professional philharmonic in South Bohemia. The tour will be led by important Czech conductor Vojtěch Spurný, one of the most all-around Czech musicians of his generation, chief conductor of eminent Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra and principal conductor of the Czech Chamber Philharmonic who also pays attention to pedagogic works as professor at the Prague Academy of Music Arts. Large China Tour will include 9 concerts between December 27, 2016 and January 8, 2017 at most important Chinese venues in the North of the country. Stay tuned for detailed schedule.

Midnight Song is inspired by beautiful poetry:
- At night all sleeps, and birds and flowers and a man and longing and happiness and sadness...
but in some soul even then among stars' game, music is born, which with fervor of magical thoughts sings to all sleepers, awakes them from a dream, with moon's veil, the truth of love, reflection of notes, over the blue sea of desires... -
(Croatian original)
- U noći sve spava, i ptice i cvijeće i čovjek i žudnja i sreća i tuga...
ali u nekoj duši i tada među igrom zvijezda, rađa se glazba, te zanosom čarobnih misli pjeva za usnule, budi ih iz sna, velom mjeseca, istinom ljubavi, odsjajem nota, nad modrim morem želja... -

Melancholic Tango premiered in Romania
Picture
Hundreds of people attended the Arad State Philharmonic's final concert of the season held on July 6th at beautiful open air stage of Lacul Pădurice, a lake in downtown Arad, Romania. Among Andalusian, tango and Latin rhythms of known works by de Falla, Piazzolla and Di Marino, Mr. Šiša's Melancholic Tango for flute and orchestra was performed with great success by prominent Romanian flutist Constantin Talmaciu accompanied by Arad State Philharmonic Orchestra under Miran Vaupotić. Composer writes about his music:
Melancholic Tango is a piece for flute solo and orchestra which in traditional rhythm of tango music describes invitation to the dance. Woman in red dress on a dancing floor in a burning desire searching for love and a warm squeeze from a man who will understand her. Flute symbolizes a woman while tutti theme symbolizes a dancing couple with a sweep of tango flying to happiness. But happiness might disappear and music sounds melancholic as well as proud.
Arad is an old culture center of Romania, with a prolonged and considerable musical tradition. In the year 1833 the setup of a Conservatory is recorded, the sixth in Europe, which institutionalizes a specialized music learning program.
